Chocolate lab up for adoption
We are fostering Biscuit, a one year old female chocolate lab. She is well trained, was raised in a family with kids (so she is great with kids). She has lots of energy and lots of love to bring into your house. If you are interesting in meeting Biscuit stop on by Barkley Square!

Give your dog a bath!
Have a dirty dog - here are some options for bathing your furry friend. One - with the warm weather you can bath your dog outside in a kitty pool or with a hose - this is a good option especially if you have a big dog - just be prepared as you will get wet. Two - bath your dog inside in the shower/tub or sink (if you have a small dog that is). Make sure you have lots of towels for after the bath. Three - bring your dog to barkley square and we'll do it for you. Just remember a clean dog is a happy dog!

Activities with your dog
Now that the weather has cleared up you may be thinking - I want to plan a weekend activity that includes my dog. What should you do? I would start with the dog park or hiking on a dog friendly trail. If you are up for more of an adventure - how about taking your dog to the beach? Hungry? There are actually more and more dog friendly restaurants (ones with outdoor areas to eat) these days. For more ideas or specific locations check out the following website: http://www.dogfriendly.com/ , enter your city and you'll find a large amount of dog friendly places to visit. Have fun!

A new year brings new dogs
Now that it is 2009, some people will decide - this is the year we'll get a dog. I strongly encourage everybody to get a dog but I also suggest lots of research and time to think about what the best breed for you (and your family) is. In addition to researching on the internet and books you may find it helpful to come into Barkley Square and check out the dogs that are visiting. We all have been around a lot of different breeds and can help guide you in the right direction into a breed that may work best for your needs. Choosing the right dog is an important process as you'll have your new addition for many years to come.
FYI - The picture I have posted is of Barkley Square's newest dog, Carmelita - she is just a couple of months old an despite her small size she has tons of energy.
